Camp site with mother ship in back ground golden jackels A typical day may involve getting up at first light for a couple of hours of shore fishing and then, after breakfast set off in the boats for a day of combined trolling and shore fishing. At night dead or live bait lines can be put out to catch vundu or Nile perch that might be checking out the campsite area. In effect you could be fishing for 24 hours if you have the energy? Most camps are located on clean sandy beaches and where ever possible close to a shore fishing area. At night, in camp under the desert stars, one hears all sorts of sounds: frogs, crickets, the call of an owl, howling jackals, night bird calls and the tantalizing splash of big fish feeding near the camp. When it's quiet and the camp lights have been turned off the area comes alive. Little Gerbils have a good scout around for bits of food and a desert fox or Golden Jackal is likely to be checking out the rubbish hole. We encourage these remarkably tame animals by feeding them. A boat safari is a must for those who enjoy 'getting away from it all'. The areas we fish are extremely remote and you will be completely cut off from all civilization. For those who have a sense of adventure and appreciate an outdoor life the safari is a dream come true.

FISHING BOATS

We have eleven fishing boats built by The African Angler which are specially designed for fishing safaris on Lake Nasser. Built for tough work in remote areas, each boat is fitted with long-range fuel tanks and plenty of storage area for your equipment.

Fishing Platform The bow deck is flat, providing a forward casting area and there is an all round deck in case a quick maneuver is needed when that big fish takes a dive under the boat. The stern is a spacious trolling and casting area. And each boat is fitted with a fish-finder and weighing scales up to 220lb.

Accommodation Each boat has comfortable on board sleeping facilities with two bunks each with full-size single mattress this area also provides spacious daytime seating. At night the cabin can be enclosed by canvas, providing a cozy sheltered sleeping area. Each boat cabin has a 12v lighting system.

Many anglers enjoy the unique and peaceful experience of sleeping under the desert stars on the wind-protected upper deck, which has a ladder access.

Gary and I have just returned from our week on Lake Nasser and I wanted to send you a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves. The whole idea of sleeping on a small boat had concerned me but with no reason.

SUPPLY BOATS

one of the motherships We have four supply boats (mother ships) which carry the safari equipment, provisions, fuel, cooks, helpers etc. They have built-in kitchens, toilet and shower and large iceboxes to keep drinks cool. Marhaba the Lake Nasser Safari supply boat is fitted with a radio transmitter - receiver and keeps in contact with our base in Aswan at all times.

A supply boat enables comfortable camps to be set up close to the best fishing areas, even when the shoreline is rocky and inhospitable.

The Nubian safari staff will surprise you with their ability to conjure up amazing food in the middle of nowhere, including freshly baked bread every morning. The style of cooking is a blend of western taste merged with Nubian cuisine, which is superb, we eat well and the camp is comfortable, relaxed and has a fantastic atmosphere.

This style of camping is comfortable and safe but still maintains the adventurous atmosphere of being out in the wilds.
